Police arrest man, 43, and 16-year-old boy after acid attacker leans through van driver’s window and hurls liquid over him

A man and a teenager were arrested today after a driver said he had acid thrown in his face through the open window of his van.

Police were called to the Shinewater area of Eastbourne at around 8.35am today and held two suspects shortly afterwards on suspicion of GBH.

The victim, a man in his 40s, claims he was sitting in his van at the junction of Honeysuckle Close and Larkspur Drive when his attacker leant through the window threw a liquid was thrown over him.

Officers saw they are testing the liquid to see if it is acid and the victim is being treated in hospital.

Two people, a-16-year-old boy and a 43-year-old man, have been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent.

Detective Inspector Simon Yates said: ‘The victim is being treated at hospital for a minor injury. At this stage we don’t know for definite whether it was acid thrown on him and we are examining the liquid and scene where it happened.

‘At this stage we are not seeking anyone else in connection with this incident.’
